Love in Action
This abbreviates the five purposes of our fellowship:
Worship Fellowship Ministry Discipleship Evangelism
Mark 12:30-31 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'f 31 The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'g There is no commandment greater than these."
John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,f that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
John 20:21 Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you."
John 13:34-35 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."
Vision is a picture of WHERE we’re headed. Our church is a family of faith working together towards a common vision.
Becoming an oasis of faith, hope & love. 1 Cor 13:13
Faith – The Christian experience begins with faith in Christ as Lord. People outside of the church come to this church because people in the church went out to them. Also, faith matures as we are exposed to a faithful and encouraging body, and as we grow in the Word. So, people come to this church to be encouraged and to mature in their Biblical identity and perspectives.
Hope – God gives us hope through His promises, by setting us free from sin, and by healing us from hurts, both emotional and physical. People come to this church to be free and to be healed.
Love – We serve and witness with the agape love of Christ. People come to this church to express God’s love, being ambassadors of God’s forgiveness and healing.
COtE Values to Live For
Commitment to Worship: God requires a lifestyle of worship for every believer. Our private and public worship exalts Christ and engages both our heart and our mind. Ref. Matt 4:10b; Ex 34:14; 1 Chron 16:29; John 4:24; Rev 5:13
Commitment to Biblical Teaching. The entire Bible is God’s inspired word, the guidebook for faith and practice for Christians. We build our ministry on Biblical principles by teaching the Word, thus equipping people for life and ministry. Ref. Heb 4:12; James 1:18; Col 3:16; Ps 1:2; James 1:21-25
Commitment to Relationships. As members of the body of Christ, we have the divine responsibility and enablement to love, serve, encourage and build each other up. We will strive to do this in a humble spirit of sacrificial love. Furthermore, we agree to hold each other accountable to Biblical standards of relating to each other. Ref. Ro 12:5; 1 Co 12:27; 1 Thess 5:11; John 15:17; 1 John 3:16;
Commitment to Changed Lives. God enables Christians to grow into fully devoted followers of Christ. Through our teaching and our lives, we help each other to reflect the character and values of Christ. Ref. Col 2:6-7; Col 4:12 Matt 28:19-20; Rom 8:29; Eph 4:14-16; Eph 4:22-24; 2 Cor 3:18; Heb 6:1-3; 2 Peter 3:18
Commitment to Serving God through Serving Others: God is purposeful in all He is doing. God gives every believer gifts for service. We will help people discover their unique place of ministry, and to faithfully use the time, talent and treasure God has entrusted to them for His service. Ref. 1 Peter 4:10; 1 Cor 12:27; Eph 4:16; Eph 4:12-13; Rom 12:3-8; Acts 11:29
Commitment to Sharing our Faith. God is “not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance” [2 Pt 3:9 HCSB]. Therefore we will strive to equip and encourage every believer to be effective in reaching others for Christ. Ref. Matt 28:19; Acts 1:8; 1 Tim 2:1-6
Commitment to Prayer: God hears and answers prayer. Our lives and ministries are characterized by a genuine reliance on God. This reliance is demonstrated by incorporating prayer into everything we do. Ref. Luke 11:9; Luke 18:1; Heb 4:16, Acts 1:14; Acts 2:42; Rom 12:12; Eph 6:18
Jesus replied, "You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind."
...Love your neighbor as yourself
